CAPS Computer Club (formerly known as Coder DoJo) is a computer club set up and run by Leo Kearns and the mentors. These sessions are in the ETB, Ballyjamesduff, every Friday evening from 7pm for ages 7 . In this club young autistic people and their siblings can learn about computers & more. Mobile Phone Appeal

The Mobile Phone Appeal is proving to be a great success. We have now obtained 9 iPads and 2 Laptops for children/adults with autism. These iPad’s are a vital part in the learning and development of autistic children & adults.

We are continuing our Mobile Phone Appeal this year, So if you were lucky and got a new phone for Christmas and you would like to donate your old one please contact us.

Getting to Know You Mornings

These meetings are open to families of all stages of autism. Support is offered and it gives people opportunity to meet others and openly chat about autism and their personal experiences.

At these meetings there is always a guest speaker covering topics that are of concern to parents.

C.A.P.S AGM – Annual General Metting


The C.A.P.S AGM will be held on Sunday 29th April in The Backyard, Moynehall, Cavan at 3pm sharp.

There will be a presentation made to the Smith family to commemorate the fantastic success of their Perspectives CD which was launched in aid of C.A.P.S. last year.

Following the presentation we will process registration forms for 2018, the annual registration fee is €20 per family. We will also be asking you to indicate your interest in the forthcoming camps/activities so that we can plan to facilitate all members.

There will also be carers on the day if you need to bring your children.

Juniors Summer Camp

The schedule for the Juniors Summer Camp 17th – 21st July is as follows:

Monday 17th – Little Monkeys Virginia (Playcentre and Colin Walker magic show with balloon making and face painting) – Food on Site
Tuesday 18th – Best O Matz – Food on Site
Wednesday 19th – Killinkere Pet Farm with scone making – Smith’s Diner
Thursday 20th – Adam and Friends (Sensory Playcentre Dublin) – Mc Donalds
Friday 21st – Mellows (bouncing castles and playground) Athboy – Smith’s Diner

IMPORTANT: The camp ran from 10am – 2pm each day (except Thursday). Drop off and pick up was from The Backyard, Moynehall, Cavan. On Thursday 20th we returned to the Backyard at 3:15pm.

All children MUST bring a light snack and drink (for morning break), sun block, coat and change of clothes every day.

Disability Awareness in Sport

Upcoming Disability Awareness in Sport Workshop being delivered by the Sports Inclusion programme. This is an awareness building workshop aimed at anyone involved in sport or physical activity that would like to learn more about offering opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in their school, club or organisation. Full Details below and poster attached.

The next course in Cavan is taking place Tuesday March 14th, Bridge Street Centre, Cavan from 7pm-9pm

Limited places available. Cost is €15

This workshop (contact time: 2 hours) is designed to build awareness around people with disabilities participating in sport and physical activity. It is an interactive workshop that covers perceptions, communication and etiquette, understanding disability and inclusion and readiness along with local initiatives for people with disabilities. It will also be a pathway for those who wish to participate in further learning opportunities. These include Disability Inclusion Training, Inclusive Fitness Training, Inclusive Sports Coaching, and other courses offered through the National Training and Education Framework.

On completion, all participants will receive a Sport Ireland and CARA Centre endorsed certificate of attendance.

Movember Wax and Shave Night

Thank you to all the brave men who took on the challange for C.A.P.S last year. We are hoping that you all take it on again next year along with friands or family members.

The Movember Wax and Shave Night took place in Lizzie Buggies Pub, Ballyconnell at 9pm on Saturday 3rd December 2016. There was also a raffle, music, and refreshments on the night!!
